Purpose: To investigate the prevalence of asthmatic children from the North East of England. Methods: We studied 1657 schoolchildren (908 boys and 749 girls) from the 27 schools from the North East of England. We used the questionnaire developed by the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISAAC). Results: Prevalences of children who suffered asthma, asthma and eczema, and asthma and rhinitis are shown in the table. Conclusions: The study shows that asthmatic children in this group have high prevalence of rhinitis and eczema. Clinical Implications: The present study will help to implement intervention programmes to reduce the prevalences.
