The present study showed that prenatal cocaine exposure (60 mg/kg/day) has transient effect on the [3H]mazindol-labelled dopamine uptake sites in the striatum of the rat offspring examined from postnatal week 0-32. There is a 39% and 21% decrease in the number of binding sites (Bmax) in the cocaine-exposed group at postnatal weeks 3 and 4, respectively, with a recovery to near normal values by postnatal week 8. © 1994.
