Abstract

This chapter discusses how uranium and environmental risk factors interact to increase the risk of lung cancer. There is strong evidence that lung cancer is linked to uranium and related compounds. Lung cancer is mostly caused by smoking, but there are other risk factors as well. Exposure to certain metals and other environmental toxins might increase the risk of lung cancer. Numerous methods are available for lung cancer diagnosis and staging. A patient’s best course of treatment for lung cancer is determined by a number of parameters.
