Abstract

The gravity of the COVID-19 pandemic has transformed the day-to-day life of children. Closures of schools, physical distancing, and home confinement have posed a challenge for parents to provide necessary resources and parental self-efficacy. A survey was conducted online of 198 parents belonging to different states of Northern India to understand the impact of COVID-19 on families. Parents have shared their experiences with modifying priorities and routines during the epidemic. A significant relationship has been established between the identified variables. The statistical analysis using IBM SPSS software has been performed on the collected data. The COVID-19 crisis has catastrophically affected all children and families by interrupting routine, job stress, losing jobs, income losses, and interaction with children. This pandemic acted as a boon and a bane for the families. For some supportive and sound families, children received all the resources and good parental support. For some families, schedules are disturbed, triggering deviations in childcare, recreational facilities, and schools.
