N2 - Raw material preparation is an arrangement of resource to produce a product. Material preparation determines the readiness of production operation which consequently affect the completion time of a product. Hence, a sufficient quantity of material prepared within a specified time is crucial for the assembly process at a production line. From previous studies, the completion time is evaluated through a simulation technique which is a process of designing a model that resembles a real system in a graphical appearance, provides risk-free experimentation without any interruption on the actual system. In this regard, the objective of this research is to develop a simulation model for simulating the effect of the raw material preparation time on the production completion time. To develop the model, a real company situation was considered. The result indicates that the ideal material preparation time is 1 h for a stable production completion time. Consequently, a policy on the production completion time at the particular company is improved for the on-time delivery without tardiness.
