Abstract
Silver (Ag) is a potent antibacterial ingredient in the universe, which currently mixed with many biomaterials for antibacterial property as well as strength modifier. In biomedical sciences, Ag plays an important role in the resistance from bacteria and inhibits biofilm formation. Substituted hydroxyapatite (HA) material is very attractive in the field of bone tissue engineering, implant coatings, and hybridization of the materials. The aim of this chapter is to highlight the silver substitution with HA, the synthesis methods, and the bioactivity of the silver-substituted HA.
