Abstract

Summary. -The problem of an acoustic field generated by a point source moving with arbitrary velocity in a stratified medium in an underwater environment has been addressed by Lim and Ozard. The aim of this paper is to investigate the field of a pulse emitted by a moving point source in the presence of a moving fluid. The point source is excited by a rectangular pulse with a finite non-zero rise and decay time. For a slow-moving source the field is expressed entirely in terms of contemporary time. Finally, the physical interpretation of the result is discussed.
