Abstract
Human metapneumovirus is a prime cause of respiratory tract infections. Compared to other infections, the intensity and clinical manifestations of pneumonia related to HMPV have not been well investigated. The human metapneumovirus, or hMPV, has been discovered worldwide since 2001. HMPV is a prevalent pulmonary ailment, particularly in newborns and babies. The virus may cause asthma with infections of the lower and upper respiratory tract. Additionally, there are at least two primary hMPV genotypes in circulation throughout the epidemics. It is debatable if these genotypes correlate with different serotypes. When children have acute respiratory tract infections, HMPV is the primary cause of hospitalisation, accounting for five to ten per cent of all admissions. Children infected with HMPV might develop severe asthma and bronchiolitis. The symptoms resemble those brought on by the respiratory syncytial virus in humans. Initial hMPV infection often occurs in early infancy, despite frequent reinfections throughout life. You may be more susceptible to a dangerous hMPV infection if you were born prematurely, are young, have had a nosocomial infection in the past, or have long-term lung, heart, or brain issues. In terms of mortality and fatality, the latest discovered HMPV seems just as dangerous as HRSV. Because hMPV is a severe respiratory infection, it is crucial to understand its pathophysiology and molecular mechanisms that lead to severe illness to develop an effective hMPV vaccine. Clinical characteristics were unable to differentiate HMPV-associated pneumonia from other infections consistently. HMPV-related pneumonia was less critical than bacterial and mature RSV pneumonia, although it was comparable to or worse than other prevalent illnesses.
