Abstract

This paper reviewed the major researches on train scheduling and studied the train schedule with certain passenger flow in an intercity high speed rail line. Based on the optimization model constructed, it put forward a method for selecting the best train schedule and a novel concept, i.e. the passenger's maximum tolerance of travel time delay and the tolerance degree of passenger's travel time delay. The paper worked out an approach to the selection of a suitable train schedule to maximize the benefits for both passengers and the company. A case study was carried out finally.
