Abstract
An analytical discription of the short wavelength marginal mode for the onset of oscillatory Marangoni convection in the presence of uniform internal heat generation in a horizontal fluid layer heated from below was presented. The results showed that as a→∞ both the velocity and temperature distributions became concentrated in boundary layers near the free surface in which temperature is smaller than the velocity. It was found that as the internal heat generation was increased, the oscillatory marginal stability curve shifted downward in the limit of short waves.
