Abstract
Nanocarriers for cutaneous drug delivery are interesting area of research because they allow treatments to pass through the skin, which is a highly complicated biological barrier. Skin is the primary interface between the body and the environment. This chapter reviews common inflammatory diseases like dermatitis (atopic dermatitis (AD), seborrheic dermatitis and contact dermatitis), psoriasis, and pruritus. This chapter discusses about the various types of carriers used in skin inflammatory diseases, including polymeric nanocarriers, lipidic nanocarriers, metallic nanocarriers such as gold and silver, and non-metallic nanocarriers such as carbon and graphite. Different methods of preparation of gold nanocarriers are discussed in this chapter like Turkevich method, the Brust method, seeded growth method, synthesis of sliver nanocarriers by using electrochemical method. Advantages of nanocarriers and applications of nanocarriers in drug delivery are discussed. Future aspects of nanocarriers in health care are discussed.
