Abstract
In recent years, the advancements in modern communication systems such as 5G, 6G, and beyond have emerged the requirements of a low-profile, high-gain, beam-controlled and high-efficiency antennas, which further lead research progress toward the design of the novel structure and materials such as metasurfaces based on Huygens' principle. The Huygens' metasurfaces (HMSs) utilized electromagnetic boundary conditions enforcing the electric and magnetic surface currents of the equivalence principle. Therefore, this chapter will focus on the review of the working principle, design methodology of HMSs and its applications in antennas, antenna array designs, healthcare, a perfect reflection, beamforming, and beam scanning.
