Abstract

The poverty is an eternal topic in human society. However, the current analysis methods of the povertyfactors cannot accurately depict the essence and connotation of it.In this paper, in the special poverty area of Liupan Mountain, the multi-dimensional poverty situation of rural households has been highlighted in recent years. The data of this investigation was derived from the 2016 livelihood survey of farmers in Gansu Province ofLiupan Mountain. This paper measured the multidimensional poverty by using the AF method and analyzed the multi-dimensional poverty-causing factors by using the Logistic model. The results show that: The three-dimensional, four-dimensional, five-dimensional and six-dimensional multidimensional poverty indices are 24%, 18%, 12% and 6.1% respectively. Household population, dependency, education and health are the main factors contributing to multidimensional poverty in the region. Based on the survey data of 1300 farmer households in the Gansu section of the destitute area of Liupan Mountain in 2016, the paper estimates the multidimensional poverty index of farmers and analyzes the causes of poverty from micro-level. Studies from the peasant households show that the basic conditions of family members (the number of family members, the number of family dependents, education and health) are the main factors contributing to the poverty in this region, but the poverty factors in each region have their own characteristics. Therefore, the region should first establish a special system of education and health-specific poverty alleviation. Second, different assistance models are developed for multidimensional poor households in different regions.
