Abstract
The impulse response due to an absorbing-elastic coupling of two half-planes is considered. Scattered and surface waves under heavy fluid loading limits are solved. It is found that the significant contribution to the field comes from the surface wave which travels along the elastic plate and the edge scattered wave. The effect of absorption on the scattered field is shown explicitly in terms of the absorption parameter. Finally the physical interpretation of the results is also discussed.
