Abstract

This article presents entropy generation analysis of the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow and heat transfer over a nonlinear permeable stretching sheet with partial slip at constant surface temperature (CST). By proper similarity variables, the fundamental equations of the boundary layer are transformed to ordinary differential equations (ODE) containing the Prandtl number, nonlinearity velocity of the surface and magnetic parameter. The ODEs are solved numerically using an explicit Runge-Kutta (4, 5) formula, the Dormand-Prince pair and shooting method. The velocity and temperature profiles besides the local skin-friction and the local Nusselt number number for the different values of the involved parameters of the problem are calculated to be applied in the local entropy generation number (Ns). The viscous dissipation, heat transfer irriversibilities in addition to the local entropy generation due to the effect of the magnetic field are determined and discussed in details.
