Abstract
Optics, a foundational discipline in physics, offers unique opportunities to foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills in students. However, traditional methods often rely on rote learning, limiting engagement and practical understanding. This study presents an outreach-based, outcomes-oriented framework for K-12 optics education, combining inquiry-driven learning with hands-on activities. Central to this approach is a customized tabletop microscope, enabling students to explore optics concepts interactively and apply them to real-world scenarios. Field-tested programs demonstrated significant improvements in students' critical thinking, engagement, and conceptual understanding. This initiative bridges the gap between theoretical learning and practical application, equipping students with the skills needed to advance in science and technology while aligning with global priorities for sustainable development.
