Effects of position of partitions on natural convection in squares enclosures

Abstract

A numerical investigation of transient magnetohydrodynamic free convection in partitioned square enclosure filled with a fluid-saturated porous medium with internal heat generation has been performed. Two thin partitions which are considered fully insulated placed in the enclosure. A uniform magnetic field, inclined at angled γwith respect to the horizontal plane, is externally imposed. A finite difference method is used to solve numerically the non-dimensional governing equations. The effects of position of partitions on the natural convection are studied. It is found that inclination angle of the magnetic field and the position of partitions has a significant influence on the rate of heat transfer.
