Abstract

Dental caries (tooth decay) are a major oral health problem in most of the urban countries, affecting 60-90% of schoolchildren and the vast majority of adults. Dental caries are an infectious microbiologic disease of the teeth that results in localized dissolution and destruction of the calcified tissues. It is one of the most common chronic diseases in the world. The prevalence of dental caries has increased in modern times due to a change in dietary consumption. However, evidence suggests the opposite. In developed countries, there is a notable decrease in dental caries in certain populations especially in the United States, Western Europe, New Zealand, and Australia. Hence, the review is aimed to focus on the pharmacological aspects of mushroom on dental caries.
