Abstract
In this paper, a dual-band antenna using defected ground structures (DGS) is presented to operate on 20 GHz and 28 GHz bands with a footprint of 10× 10× 0.76 mm3. The frequency band-I is from 19.6-20.6 GHz, and Band-II is from 21.4-31.9 GHz because of integrating DGS square-ring slots in the partial ground. The realized gain at 20.32 GHz is 3.11 dBi and at 27.488 GHz is 4.74 dBi with an omnidirectional radiation pattern. The antenna efficiency is above 80% in both bands. The proposed antenna is well-suited for the 6G and beyond networks, wireless hotspots and short-range wireless links in smart cities.
