Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of the practice of telepharmacy in intensive care settings. It starts with a summary of pharmacy activities that have been reported in the literature under critical care telepharmacy (CCTP). The chapter then moves on to explore the various descriptions of CCTP and the types of communication methods used in CCTP. The potential outcomes of CCTP are then summarized, and the role of CCTP during pandemics is highlighted. Perspectives of healthcare providers on CCTP and physicians' acceptance of pharmacy recommendations provided through CCTP are discussed. In addition, this chapter offers guidance on the factors necessary for the successful implementation and sustainability of CCTP and suggested indicators for the evaluation of CCTP services. Finally, future directions in CCTP practice and research are explored.
