Abstract

The developments in Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs), has brought about significant changes in teaching and learning styles. This has impacted positively on the learning environments. One of such novelty which has to with the application of electric devices to improve education procedure refers popularly to the E-learning. This innovation is currently gaining more acceptance owing to the huge benefits it provides to knowledge environments. Despite the important benefits attached to e-learning systems, the majority of the educational institutions find it very difficult to adapt because it need enormous investments in IT. Therefore, cloud computing is one of the best alternatives to use, particularly in the educational institutions that make use of computers and are more concentrated on how students and teachers can benefit more with the application of Elearning system. Furthermore, Cloud computing is commonly used in many fields owing to its additional service advantages provided by the cloud computing. Additionally, it enhances significant impact to educational institutes by reducing the cost of infrastructure as compared to current systems. Cloud computing is becoming an adaptive technology for various institutions because of its dynamic scalability and practice of virtualized resources as a service using the online. This paper, therefore, is aimed to describe the essential concepts of cloud computing and evaluate the possible value of cloud computing as a platform for e-learning.
