Abstract

This paper presents a circularly polarized (CP) monopole antenna for satellite applications. The antenna consists of two C-shaped monopole radiators and has an overall compact size of 32 × 25 mnr 2 . The two C-shaped monopole radiators along with L-shaped slot in the ground plane are mainly responsible to achieve circular polarization. The antenna is fabricated and tested. The measured results are in quite good agreement with simulations. The measured impedance bandwidth of 1170 MHz (5.5 - 6.67 GHz) and axial ratio bandwidth of 760 MHz (5.91 - 6.67 GHz) is achieved.
