Abstract
Phytochemicals have been a common clinical remedy in dentistry for many generations, for mucosal wound impairment and oral pathologies. When it comes to alveolar bone protection, several studies suggest these natural products are safe and effective. Many mechanisms are involved in protecting and preserving the alveolar bone. In addition, synergistic effects come in motion to augment the conservation of these hard tissues. These phytochemicals have antimicrobial, antioxidative, antiinflammatory, bone preservative, and regenerative properties. In socket preservation, they appear to sustain the dimensions of the alveolar bone. This chapter focuses on the properties, benefits, and processes that make these phytocompounds advantageous for alveolar bone health.
