Abstract

Based on a questionnaire completed by 11100 Danish families with children aged 1 to 5 it was found that 11.2% of the children suffered from doctor diagnosed asthma, 2% from doctor diagnosed allergic rhinitis, 1.4% from doctor diagnosed allergic conjunctivitis, and 7.3 % from doctor diagnosed eczema. The prevalence of families who had had their home renovated due to dampness problems or had visible mould in the dwelling consistently appeared to be higher among the children who suffered from these symptoms.
