Abstract
This study introduces an AI-based smart home control system designed for the elderly, disabled, and visually impaired in the Arab region. The system integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) principles, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, enhancing hands-free control of diverse appliances using Arabic voice commands. The system includes auditory feedback for the visually impaired. The developed system is implemented for real-time operation and integrates an offline voice recognition module capable of processing commands in various Arabic dialects, including Emirati. The system demonstrated high recognition accuracy of 94.4% and seamless functionality in real-world tests. It surpasses existing solutions in linguistic adaptability, energy efficiency, and accessibility. Overall, it provides a robust foundation for a comprehensive smart home system that improves autonomy and quality of life for the elderly and people with disabilities.
